When Mother Winter Arrived

The winter season here in Revelstoke has really booted off. Season has been super sweet, with a lot of exploring on what is a massive and super impressive ski hill.

We have had enough snow up till now however in the last few days we got hit probably the hardest we have been all season. Wednesday was spent riding while it gently puked on us all day which meant snow conditions only improved as the day went on. Thursday bought the beautiful sight of my housemates cars buried on our driveway, and report of a fresh 35cm on the hill, needless to say it was an epic day of riding. Today we woke to another layer of of snow similar to that of what we had on Thursday which combined with what has been falling during the days. This all made for a RIDICULOUS DAYS RIDING today. I have never jumped off so many things without giving it a second thought, the pillows, the drops and then of course the fresh lines in the trees all day. I'm gona say its the best snow of my life. Got well stuck once or twice. Tree wells can make life tricky, but when stuck in one today I dug myself out, took my board off (with a thrashing struggle) and then found myslef walking through waist deep powder to get to a point to strap back in. Had a bit of a laugh to myself, GLORIOUS!!

Got a few amping things coming up on the horizon. Have lined the AST1 avalanche course for next weekend. Lining up a mid winter camp mission to some natural hotsprings. Should be rad. Then its sorting some backcountry missions, I have heard about one or two huts up in the hills that sound rad to spend a few days up at. Pretty amped about some exploring once the avalanche course is done!! January 2011 is going to be a good one i think.

Chinny Chin!
